Return of the unknown Vikings

On Saturday 10th May, the Vikings will pitch camp outside the church with demonstrations of Viking life in the tenth century. The Chapter House, located in the church ruins, will again be open from 2.00pm to 4.00pm in the afternoon. This is a very popular event with many attractions for our visitors.

Return of the Chester Photo Festival

Chapel Archaeology CIC (“CA CIC”) – Photograph Exhibition to celebrate 950 years of St John’s

From the 10th May, and throughout the next few months, we will exhibit photographs and material, curated by our friends at the CA CIC documenting our history in celebration of the 950 years since the Normans commenced work on the present church. This will be a special time for us so don’t forget to visit. St John’s musical events

We are now looking forward to the return of our popular Wednesday@One recitals so here are our May dates for your calendar:

The Minstrel’s Court will also be held at St John’s on Wednesday 14th May and all are welcome.

8.00am - Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer)
10.00am  - Eucharist
6.30pm  - Evensong (Compline on the last Sunday of the month)

Lady Chapel Services

Wednesday - 10.00am
Friday 12.00 noon

Please visit our Lady Chapel at any ti me to light a candle, leave prayers and to sit in quiet contemplation.

If you cannot make it to any services or events, the church is open to visitors:

11.00am to 3.00pm, Monday to Friday.
10.00am to 4.00pm, Saturday

During your visit feel free to browse around our gift shop and Cosy café where you can say hello to everyone and enjoy a hot cuppa and freshly made cake.
