This June marks a truly special occasion as we celebrate 950 years of worship, heritage, and community at St John the Baptist Church, Chester.

Heritage Exhibition – Chapel Archaeology CIC
Explore our curated photographic exhibition, documenting the fascinating history of St John’s from its Norman origins. Curated by Chapel Archaeology CIC, this display highlights rare images and historical insights into one of Chester’s oldest buildings.

St Andrew’s Madrigal Group – Summer Tour Performance
Enjoy a beautiful evening of sacred music, folk songs, part-songs, and madrigals performed by this renowned vocal ensemble.

Saturday 14 June – A Day of Living History
Medieval Masonry Demonstration – 11:00am onward
Join us in the Chapter House (located in the church ruins) for a live demonstration of medieval stone masonry by expert Tom Livingston.
The Unknown Vikings & Minstrel’s Court – from 11:00am
Step back into the 10th century as Viking re-enactors pitch camp outside the church. Experience Viking life through interactive displays, music, and storytelling.
Minstrel’s music begins at 11:00am
Traditional procession at 1:00pm
